A MANTIS SHRIMP CAN PUNCH WITH THE FORCE OF A 22-CALIBER BULLET.

The mantis shrimp may be small, but its punch is legendary -striking faster than a speeding bullet and strong enough to shatter crab shells and glass aquariums. Scientists have discovered its limbs work like a natural spring-loaded weapon, storing and releasing energy with perfect efficiency. Now, engineers are copying that design to build faster robots and tougher material (and hopefully a better bumper for my car!)...it’s a wild reminder that the best ideas often hide in plain sight - or in this case, at the bottom of the ocean!
