Miami Welcomes the Messi Cup: Come See Tomorrow’s Legends & Today’s Exhausted Soccer Moms

Bobby’s 3 Things for December 3, 2025

Lionel Messi is bringing a whole squad of young soccer prodigies to Miami for what he’s calling the Messi Cup. Basically, it’s like is Messi decided to host the world’s fanciest soccer sleepover, except instead of pillow fights, these kids are battling it out on the soccer field! It’s the only tournament where you might spot tomorrow’s superstars but have to remind them to do their homework. Messi Cup starts Tuesday.

Another year, another art-filled affair this Miami Art Week! One of the standout Art Basel installations is The Library of Us on Miami Beach - a giant, rotating, mirrored library filled with more than 2,000 books. It’s a gorgeous, peaceful break from the Basel chaos, a place to slow down and actually read...assuming you’re not too distracted by the mirrors or the beach selfies. The books all get donated afterward, so it’s art with a real community payoff.

Finally, you know back in 1992, little Kevin McCallister checked into the Plaza Hotel in Home Alone 2 for about two grand. Fast forward to today, and that same stunt is basically an $8,000 adventure. So if Kevin tried it now, he’d probably need a GoFundMe page just to cover room service. Turns out the real bandit this time is the hotel bill!
