Miami was considering a zoning change that would allow housing to be built on land owned by churches, schools and other institutions. So Miami’s thinking, “Why stop at Sunday service when you can have Sunday brunch in your own apartment...right on church land?” But the proposal was rejected: So you will not have a preacher as your landlord. Bless this lease!

Southwest Airlines said goodbye to open seating, officially making the switch to assigned seating yesterday.

It’s also the end of an era in Florida City. Residents have a new mayor for the first time in four decades. Charlotte Thompson won yesterday’s mayoral election, making her the first new person at the helm since 1984.
