Comic-Con wrapped up in San Diego with plenty of big surprises. Marvel stole the show, officially introducing Ryan Gosling as Ghost Rider, while Robert Downey Jr wowed fans by showing up in character as Doctor Doom. Black Panther 3 was announced with David Jonsson (pictured below) as T’Challa’s grown-up son. Ryan Reynolds made a surprise Deadpool appearance, but one of the biggest ovations went to Rick Moranis. The Honey I Shrunk the Kids star, who’s been away from live-action movies since 1997, got a standing ovation after announcing he’s returning as Dark Helmet in next year’s Spaceballs: The New One. The Schwartz is officially back!
More bragging rights for South Florida’s food scene. Stubborn Seed in Miami Beach -- the Michelin-starred restaurant from Chef Jeremy Ford -- has landed on the prestigious World’s 50 Best Discovery list. It wasn’t alone. Local favorites like Dante’s HiFi in Wynwood and Cafe La Trova in Little Havana (my favorite ever, take your friends from out of town here) also made the cut. Turns out if you’re looking for world class food and cocktails, you don’t have to leave the 305.
The Marlins looked like they were finally going to snap that losing streak. Kyle Stowers homered, doubled and helped Miami build a 3-nothing lead, but the Padres scored four in the 8th inning to win 5-3. That’s a franchise-record 12-straight losses for the Fish.
Football is officially back. Dolphins veterans report to training camp today, joining the rookies who arrived last week. Fans will get their first chance to watch the team practice on August 2nd, but today marks the unofficial start of football season in South Florida!
