Remember when taking somebody to the airport actually meant taking them to the airport? Before 9/11, you could walk your family or friends all the way to the gate, sit there with them, give them a hug goodbye -- and then leave without ever getting on a plane. Well, TSA is bringing some of that back. A new program lets TSA PreCheck members get a free pass to go through security even without a ticket. It’s starting at 13 airports -- not Miami or Fort Lauderdale yet -- but TSA says more are coming.
Apple may finally be folding today. Literally. At its big event this afternoon, Apple is expected to show off its first foldable iPhone. You open it up like a little book and suddenly your phone is basically a mini tablet. Samsung and a few others have been making these things for years, so Apple is fashionably late. And reportedly it could cost more than two grand.
For the Miami Marlins it was too little, too late. But they did make it exciting. The Fish dub themselves a 7-nothing hole against the Mets, then made it interesting: scoring four in the sixth, another in the ninth, but fell short 7-5.
ZooMiami has a brand-new attraction called Bugtopia, and subtle it is not. Thirteen giant animatronic “superhero bugs” have moved in -- enormous insects in comic-book poses, complete with sound effects and fun facts about why bugs actually matter. There’s still time to catch it, as it runs through Halloween, and it’s included with regular zoo admission.
