When Florida Gets Cold, Even the Team Freezes: Palm Beach Cardinals Go Full Frozen Iguanas

Cold front moving in and it looks like we’ll hit the 40s on Friday morning! And in Florida, when temperatures dip below 50 degrees, iguanas will often go into a “frozen” state, resulting in some falling from palm trees. Once it warms again, they’re fine, but the result is now an alternate identity for the Palm Beach Cardinals. They’re a Single-A affiliate minor league baseball team and they’re changing their name to drum up some interest in baseball’s lower-tiers. Thus say hello to the Palm Beach Frozen Iguanas! The team will rock special blue-and-green jerseys and hats and the rebrand is part of Minor League Baseball’s trend of creative, community-inspired identities.
