Cold Night, Bright Moon: Bring Your Flannel Telescope (Brrrrr)

Bobby’s 3 Things for January 30, 2026

'Blood Moon' April 15, 2014 MIAMI, FL - APRIL 15: The moon is seen before the beginning of a total lunar eclipse on April 15, 2014 in Miami, Florida. People in most of north and south America will be able to witness this year's first total lunar eclipse, which will cause a 'blood moon' and is the first of four in a rare Tetrad of eclipses over the next two years. Miami is at DEFCON 1! If you can brave the outdoors: enjoy the view of the moon and the stars from the Deering Estate front lawn! It’s a pretty magical experience, but keep in mind - with this weather - you might need flannel binoculars!

Also a hard sell: Come see Casablanca on Sunday at the Rooftop Cinema Club on Lincoln Road. A movie outside, on a rooftop, this crazy cold weekend? OK, well just bring hot chocolate so you and your sweetie can stay warm - oh! and a blanket!

Who has googled “Can pipes freeze in Miami?”...right? The strongest cold front in more than 15 years, one that could rival the deep freeze of 1989 that led to widespread crop damage around the state, will bring freezing temperatures in the low 30s as far south as Miami-Dade by Sunday morning!

Remember that Heat/Bulls game that got cancelled because the floor was too wet? Well, they played the makeup game last night and Miami squeaked by Chicago 116-113.

Florida Panthers lose a heartbreaker in the final seconds to the St Louis Blues, 5-4.
