You have seen the delivery robots around South Florida, right? This would be the next level.

DoorDash is getting ready to send your food in the air.

They received a key FAA certification that clears the way for it to run its own commercial drone delivery service, with in-house designed drones and the software and ground infrastructure to match.

DoorDash has tested aerial delivery for years, but this is their first time building and operating their own drones. They will build them in the US, using mostly American-made components.

The rollout will be limited for now, given regulatory hurdles and community concerns of noise, safety and privacy.

DoorDash plans to reveal the drones later this year.
