Why Publix is Closing These Stores
- Tear-Downs and Rebuilds: Several of these locations are older buildings that Publix is tearing down to construct modern, larger-format stores with updated digital fulfillment and pickup staging.
- Routine Portfolio Pruning: The chain continues to expand overall—operating more than 1,400 stores across the Southeast—viewing these closures as standard updates rather than a retreat from the market.
